Story of a Star

High in the air, a dragoness whizzed through the sky and landed roughly behind a boulder.
A red half-human half-dragon watched her from the ground and walks the way she had gone. Behind him, two dragons gently flew through the air, one eastern and one western, watching her as she landed. The eastern headed toward the place while the others stayed back.
Behind the rock, she pressed herself close to it and hid, trembling in fear. She lay beside it and constantly looked at the sky.  Suddenly, the eastern dragon came out from the side.

"AHH! Get away!" the small dragon squealed as she backed away from the other dragon, spreading her wings in a threatening display. Her wings turned colors between red and an icy blue.

The eastern dragon wasn't scared by her, and stayed where she stood.
"Do not be afraid. What are you doing here?" she spoke smoothly, trying to calm her down.

"What does it look like? I'm hiding!" the tiny dragon yelped, still trembling from fear.

"By what?"  She asked, trying to get the dragoness to stop shaking and calm down.
"I don't know! But whatever it is, it is powerful!" she squeaked, tucking her wings back against herself.

"Well," the eastern said, "whatever it is, you will be safe if you stick around us. Come on." The eastern said reassuringly, and then took to the air. The small dragoness is quick to follow.

"My name is Nellas, but the way." She said as they flew back to where the other two dragons had stayed. The other eastern came up to them.

"Who is this, Nellas?" he asked, looking at the small dragon questioningly.

"Um… new follower?" Nellas stammered, trying to cover the small dragon. "This is Renkos." She said to the spooked dragon. She nods, and cowers behind Nellas.

"She seems to have been spooked, by what neither of us knows. She better stick with us." Nellas said to Renkos, and wrapped her tail around the tiny dragon.

The humanoid dragon walks up to them. "Who's the runt?" he said, rather insultingly.

"RUNT?!" the little dragon quickly retaliates, "Why you lit-" Before she could continue, Nellas quickly covered her mouth.

"It would be unwise to anger a dragon like Odker!" she whispered to her.

She lifts Nellas's paw from her mouth. "Okay, okay…"

Odker looked at the small dragon for a moment, and leaped into the air and flew away. Nellas, Renkos, and the tiny dragon followed.

The tiny dragon looked about, and the white gems on her necklace begun to glow. Nellas, noticing the light, falls back beside the dragon.

"Hey, what's up with your necklace?"  Nellas asked her inquisitively.
"I'm still afraid of being in the air… the gems light up to protect me…" She said a bit shakily.

"No need to be afraid around a dragon like Odker. It would be stupid to attack him." Nellas assured.

"I hope…" she said. More secure, the white gem's glow faded.

"Better keep that from Odker."Nellas said.

They reached a clearing in the forested mountains. In a valley, a huge, sandy serpent lay asleep.

"Whoa… who is that, Nellas?" the dragoness asked, gazing at the beast.

"That is Dus-Tee. He is the guard around here.  Just don't get too close to him, your pretty small. Come with me."

At that, Nellas banked towards a cave behind Dus-Tee. Flying in, the cave was black as night. The white gems casted a moonlike glow on the cavern, and it revealed to be full of dragons.

"Um, where are we, exactly?" the dragoness asked, gazing at the swarm.
"We are in the Exiled Mountains. This is where dragon criminals come, because they have been exiled from their territory."

"Eep!" the dragoness squeaked, and the white gems glowed brighter. "No, no, stay dull!"

A black dragon's head popped up from the crowd, noticing the light.

"Can you dull that light?" Nellas asked hurriedly.

"Trying!" she put her paws over the gems, and blocked their light as best as possible. They land in a dark area, hoping that they have not been followed. But the dragon had seen them land, and walked up to them.

"Crud, he saw us. Let me handle this." Nellas instructed, twisting around the tiny dragon as she wrapped her necklace in her tail.

"What is up with that freaky light?" the dragon said, and noticed the tiny dragoness.

"Look, Blinvis, just forget what you just saw." Nellas said.

Blinvis took a step closer to Nellas, "And why should I do that?"

The dragoness was insulted at how he was, and bared her teeth. She wrapped herself in her wings and disappeared.

"Aw how cute! She's – what the?!" he said, startled at seeing her just disappear.

"What the?!?" Nellas was also taken aback.

A growl was heard behind Blinvis. He turned around, teeth bared. There is another at his side, then above.

"WHERE IS THAT LITTLE GIRL?!" Blinvis yelled as he turns around, looking for her. Suddenly, a blinding light shone directly in front of him.

"Here!" a voice came from in the light. It dulled, to reveal that the dragoness had grown three times his size, her teeth, spikes, and horns have gotten longer, the fire that was on her tail-tip became a blazing torrent, the red markings on her wings have changed into lightning bolts, and her golden eyes glowing. She roared, baring all of her teeth. The other dragons around were like "Meh…"

"Meep…" Blinvis squeaked, and he fled from the dragoness, toward the cave entrance. After he left, she turned to Nellas.

"Well… that was unexpected. I don't think your secret will last long." Nellas stammered, still a bit shocked at what happened.

"As long as I don't get angered like that," the white gems glowed again, and light pulsated. "Even though I don't know you much, I don't like it when anyone threatens my friends." The light dulled, and she was back to the tiny form.

"Who are you, really?" Nellas asked, wondering how she could do that.
